Quench Your Thirst with this Fermented Strawberry Lemonade Recipe

Fermented strawberry lemonade may be the most delicious way to hydrate yourself ever. Plus it’s really, really good for your health.

Lemons are a super food in and of themselves, loaded with all the minerals most of us are lacking… and by fermenting them and the strawberries, you add lots of good probiotics, which help you digest and do all kinds of good things for your body.

It is a great way to get fermented foods into kids and other people who may be skeptical of sauerkraut, kombucha or water kefir, as it’s not sour and doesn’t taste much different from regular strawberry lemonade.

Here’s a simple and delicious recipe by Susanne Runion from MindBodyOasis.com:

Ingredients:

Instructions:
  1. Juice the 12 lemons
  2. Clean the strawberries, removing the stems and cutting into 4 pieces
  3. Add the lemon juice, strawberries and sugar to the a blender.
  4. Blend until smooth.
  5. Strain out any large chunks of strawberries.
  6. Place in a one gallon glass container.
  7. Add the whey and the water.
  8. Cover the jar with a dishtowel.
  9. It will take 2-5 days to ferment. (The longer it ferments, the more sugar with be eaten up by the bacteria. I usually ferment it 4-5 days, but it depends on how warm your kitchen is)
  10. You will know it is done when it is bubbly, fizzy, tangy and less sweet.
  11. When it is done, place in smaller containers and move to the refrigerator.
