Need a quick, cheap cooler for a day at the lake or beach? There’s now an eco-friendly alternative to Styrofoam, and it’s only $10.

Ever forget your cooler or just want something smaller, lighter and cheaper for a quick day trip and wish there were an alternative to Styrofoam? Now there is.

Igloo just essentially made Styrofoam obsolete by creating the world’s first 100% biodegradable cooler.

Made from recycled paper and paraffin wax, Igloo’s Recool can keep ice frozen up to 12 hours and hold water without leaking for 5 days.

Unlike Styrofoam, it won’t chip when it’s bumped. Also, unlike Styrofoam, it won’t take hundreds of years to decompose and poison countless marine animals in the meantime.

When you’re done with it, let it air dry and use it again and again. When it’s lived a good long life, let it return to the earth.

“When left in the elements or buried is able to naturally biodegrade on its own,” a spokesman for Igloo told Food and Wine Magazine.

The Recool 16 quarts and can hold up to 75 pounds and is now available at REI, Target, Dick’s Sporting, Field and Stream and on Igloo’s website, and will be coming to more stores this summer.
