Adidas Pledges to Makes ALL Shoes From Only Recycled Plastic by 2024

Adidas “ocean plastic” shoe line was so successful, the company will soon make all its shoes from recycled plastic

Last year Adidas sold a million pairs of shoes made out of plastic collected from beaches or fished out of the ocean.

The plastic shoe line was produced in collaboration with the environmental group Parley for the Oceans.

It was so popular, Adidas has announced it will soon produce all of its shoes from only recycled plastic.

“Adidas is committed to using only recycled polyester in every product and on every application where a solution exists by 2024,” the company says in a press release.

The pledge includes polyester. Used in everything from t-shirts to sports bras, the material is popular in sportswear because it’s lightweight and dries quickly.

The up-cycled plastic waste is made into a yarn becoming a key component of the upper material of adidas footwear.

The company intercepted 40 tons of plastic waste from beaches, such as the Maldives, before it could reach the oceans in 2018.
