Finnish photographer captures images of wildlife so magical they almost don’t look real

23-year-old Finnish photographer Ossi Saarinen is gaining global attention for real-life images of wildlife that look like they came straight out of a fairy tale.

Saarinen spends hours and days and weeks getting his furry little friends to warm up to him, approaching them a little closer each time, until they trust him so much they almost seem happy to pose for a picture.

Finland’s vast untouched forests, tundras and lakes provide the perfect backdrop. It is one of the very few countries in the world still three-quarters covered by forests.

“Wildlife photography is very challenging which makes it even more interesting,” Saarinen says in an interview with MyModernMet.com. “Sometimes it means hours and hours of waiting with no result but when I finally get the shot I wanted it’s all worth it.”

“I spend lot of time with them. I start carefully from a far distance and then slowly, day-by-day, I try to get closer. I learned to know how the animal behaves and reacts to my presence. No sudden movements or loud noises. Over time they start trusting me more and let me closer.”

His favorite animals to photograph are foxes.
