Woman discovers easiest trick ever for keeping strawberries fresh for weeks!
If you buy fresh strawberries from the store, you know they only last a couple of days before they start to rot.
But what do you do if there’s a great sale and you can’t eat them fast enough, or your garden explodes with them and you can’t immediately turn them into jam?
Easy – says a lady on Facebook – simply put them in mason jars, unwashed, and stick them in the fridge.
“It took me 36 years to find out that if you put strawberries in glass jars, they last forever!,” Kris Potter wrote in a post on September 5.
“These ones, no word of a lie, are over 3 weeks old. From the superstore. I’m lucky if I get them to last 5 days before they start to turn when I buy them from there. I don’t know who else knows this trick but if you don’t, you’re welcome!”
To verify she wasn’t crazy, I scoured the internet and found other people know the trick too. This blogger says she uses the trick for all her fresh berries, getting them to last anywhere from 2-4 weeks.
Another blogger tested three methods of keeping berries fresh, and concluded: “The glass jar method is the clear winner. Strawberries that last three weeks in the refrigerator are a total win!”
Now it’s time for me to try it myself!
