Most the pine nuts you buy in the store come from China, are pasteurized and cost a small fortune. Don’t you wish you could pick your own and eat them fresh for free?

$2 an ounce! That’s $32 a pound!

You can! Anywhere there are pine trees there are pine nuts, although there are only about 20 species of pine that produce seeds large enough to be worth harvesting. In North America, these are mostly in the Southwest and along the Pacific Ocean.

Global Forest Watch calculates that the pre-industrial world was covered by a vast 24 million square miles of forest. In the past 150 years humans have cut that number in half. Less than 5 million of the remaining 12 million square miles of forest is original high-grade or “old growth” forest.

Europe has only 5 thousand square miles of this “frontier” forest left, on a continent that was once almost entirely woodland. Deforestation there drove colonial efforts into west Africa, where the ancient mahogany forests are now severely decimated.

Cell Phones Are the New Blood Diamonds

September 25, 2016 at 3:40 am

7-year-old children mine the minerals used to make our cell phones and laptops

Half of the workforce of the artisanal mining sector is comprised of children. Without viable economic alternatives, most children must join their parents in rudimentary mining pits. Children as young as two years transport, wash, and crush minerals to earn half a dollar a day.

The cell phone you’re likely reading this on came at a much higher cost than the dollar amount you paid for it (as did the laptop I’m typing it on). Millions of African men, women and children have shed their blood so that we “first-world” citizens can have the luxury of “the world at our fingertips.”

My new spiritual guru Teal Swan says the era of marriage is coming to an end and polyamory is the way of the future, but we can’t just jump into the lifestyle without preparing ourselves emotionally and spiritually.

“As a species, when we evolve to a higher vibratory rate, the perception of separation will dissolve, we will not have the desire to pair bond and marriage will cease to be a function of our society,” Swan says in a YouTube video about marriage.
